Many Ways of Doing Good

Abu Hurairah RA reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He who goes to the mosque at dawn or dusk (for Salaah), Allah prepares a hospitable abode for him in Jannah, every time when he walks to it or comes back from it”. [Bukhari and Muslim]

Allah will prepare a feast in Paradise for one who frequents the Masjid to perform ṣalaah or Iʿtikaaf, recite the Qurʼaan or seek knowledge for the pleasure of Allah.

This Hadith offers us enough encouragement to ensure that we perform every Salaah (Fardh) in the Masjid.

If we were told that a mighty feast has been prepared for us at the Masjid, we would leave aside everything and rush to the Masjid. Even the shopkeeper will close his shop and hurry to the Masjid. We would go so far as to even take our little children with, just so that they can get their share.

Now imagine what the Dastarkhan of Jannat will be like where Almighty Allah is the Host!

EASY GOOD DEED – Concealing others Faults

If one comes to know of somebody’s errors or shortcomings it is a matter of great merit if he conceals it from others, provided this shortcoming is not harmful or dangerous for others.

According to Abu Hurairah RA, our Holy Prophet ﷺ has said that:

Abu Hurairah RA narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. If anyone makes it easy for the one who is indebted to him (while finding it difficult to repay), Allah will make it easy for him in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, and if anyone conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah helps His slave as long as he helps his brother.” [Muslim]

And Aqbah ibn Amir RA relates that our eternally blessed Prophet ﷺ has said:

“The action of one who conceals the shortcomings of another is as if he saved a girl from being buried alive, [Mustadrik Hakim]

Ibn Majah R recorded a Hadith from Ibn Abbas RA that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever conceals the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever exposes the faults of his Muslim brother, Allah will expose his faults even by revealing those he committed in (the privacy of) his home.” [Ibn Majah]

It is reported that some of the Salaf said something similar to:

“I have met people free of shameful faults but they began to mention the faults of others, so the people began discovering their faults. And I met people who had faults, yet they used to conceal other people’s faults, so their own faults were forgotten.”

The Hadith of Abu Barzah RA supports this in that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Oh, you who have believed with their tongues yet faith has not entered their hearts! Do not back-bite the Muslims, and do not seek to discover their faults, for whoever seeks after their faults, Allah will seek his faults. And if Allah seeks after someone’s faults, He will expose him even (what he committed) in his home.” [Abu Dawud]
