As parents, there are few blessings greater than seeing our children nurtured with love, patience, and the light of knowledge. For our family, one of those blessings has been the remarkable guidance and care given by my daughter’s madrassa teacher.
At only four years old, my daughter is in Grade R when, by age, she would usually be in Grade RR. This step ahead might have felt daunting for such a little child, but with Apa’s gentle encouragement and structured support, it has instead become a joyful and fulfilling journey.
Apa has a unique gift: she makes madrassa fun. What could easily feel intimidating for young children becomes something they look forward to every day. My daughter comes home excited to share what she has learned, whether it is a new surah, a beautiful du’a, or a story that teaches her about kindness and Imaan.
Apa’s creativity and warmth transform learning into an adventure, so that the children don’t just attend madrassa—they love it. One of the qualities I admire most in Apa is her generosity of spirit. She treats every child with kindness and fairness, giving each one the confidence to believe in themselves.
For my daughter, her classroom has become a place of safety and joy—a space where she feels encouraged, capable, and happy. That eagerness to learn is the direct result of Apa’s ability to make madrassa engaging and approachable, never heavy or overwhelming.
Apa’s teaching is deeply rooted in values that extend beyond academics. She instills in the children the beauty of Imaan and introduces them to Muthaakirah in such an accessible, loving way. At this tender age, my daughter is already learning about the foundations of faith, gratitude, and remembrance of Allah in a manner that feels natural and uplifting.
These are lessons that will stay with her for life, shaping her character and guiding her long after she leaves Grade R. It is truly remarkable how Apa balances nurturing the mind and nourishing the soul. Her lessons help the children learn their letters and sounds, but also remind them of the importance of kindness, respect, and sincerity. She has found the perfect blend of discipline and joy—where children learn with focus, but never with fear.
The seeds she plants today will continue to grow in the hearts of her students for many years to come. As a parent, nothing brings greater peace of mind than knowing your child is in the hands of someone who truly cares. Apa is not simply a teacher—she is a mentor, a role model, and a source of love for every child in her class.
I am grateful for the way she has taken my daughter under her wing, stretching her abilities while protecting her innocence, and making the entire madrassa experience something she enjoys and cherishes. Apa’s kindness, patience, and generosity of time and spirit do not go unnoticed.
May Allah reward her abundantly for every letter taught, every heart inspired, and every moment spent guiding these little ones on the path of deen. We make dua that Apa is granted endless barakah in her teaching, her health, her family, and her life. She is a true gift to her students and to all of us who are blessed to know her.
