There are few people in life who embody both brilliance of the mind and light of the soul, and my sister, Zaidah Razack, is one of them. She is not only a gifted orthodontist, shaping smiles and transforming lives through her profession, but also a dedicated student of sacred knowledge, completing her Aalima course and fulfilling the noble title of a Hafiza of the Qur’an. In her, one finds the rare blend of worldly excellence and spiritual devotion, a true inspiration for all who know her.
From an early age, Zaidah displayed determination, discipline, and an unshakable faith in Allah’s plan for her. While pursuing a career in dentistry — a field that requires years of perseverance, long hours of study, and immense skill — she never allowed her spiritual journey to take a backseat. Many would find balancing one of these paths overwhelming, yet she embraced both with humility and strength. Today, as she nears the completion of her Aalima course, she stands as a shining example of how women can excel in both professional and spiritual spheres without compromising either.
Her achievement as a Hafiza of the Qur’an is in itself a crown of honor, one that will illuminate not only her life but also the Hereafter, Insha’Allah. To commit the entire Qur’an to memory is a feat that requires dedication, sacrifice, and love for the words of Allah. She carries this gift with deep sincerity, embodying the beauty of the Qur’an not only through her recitation but also through her character and conduct.
As an orthodontist, Zaidah’s impact goes beyond her technical expertise. She treats her patients with compassion and kindness, making them feel seen and valued. For many, visiting a dental specialist can be daunting, but her gentle manner and professionalism reassure and comfort those in her care. She reminds us that a true healer not only treats physical needs but also uplifts the spirit of those who come to them.
Within our community, Zaidah has become a beacon of hope and inspiration. She has proven that one can achieve academic and career success while remaining rooted in deen. Young women, in particular, look up to her as a role model who demonstrates that faith and ambition are not opposites, but rather complementary forces that can elevate a person to remarkable heights. She shows that with the right intention, every effort — whether it is studying late into the night for an exam or memorizing a new surah — can become an act of worship.
But beyond her impressive titles and accomplishments, what makes Zaidah truly extraordinary is her humility. She does not seek recognition for her sacrifices nor applause for her achievements. Instead, she carries herself with quiet dignity, always eager to serve, teach, and uplift others. Her laughter, warmth, and sincerity light up every room, reminding us that greatness lies not only in what we achieve but in how we make others feel.
As her sister, I am deeply proud and profoundly grateful to have her in my life. She inspires me daily to strive harder, to seek balance between dunya and deen, and to never underestimate what one can achieve with faith, perseverance, and the right intention.
In celebrating Zaidah Razack, we celebrate a woman of resilience, intellect, and faith. She is proof that when knowledge of the world is paired with knowledge of the deen, the result is a life of true purpose and service. May Allah continue to bless her journey, crown her with success in both worlds, and allow her light to guide others for generations to come.
