My Lord Nurtures Me

Covering Your Faults and Giving You Chances to Improve

One of the most profound ways Allah ﷻ nurtures us is through His mercy in covering our faults and His generosity in giving us endless chances to improve. No human is free from mistakes, sins, or shortcomings, yet Allah ﷻ, in His infinite wisdom, does not expose our flaws to the world immediately. Instead, He grants us opportunities to repent, to change, and to grow.

This nurturing aspect of Allah ﷻ’s divine care is a reflection of His names and attributes — Al-Ghaffar (The Constant Forgiver), Al-Sattar (The Concealer of Sins), and Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful). His covering of our faults and offering of second chances protect us from disgrace, encourage self-improvement, and strengthen our connection with Him.

  1. Allah Covers Our Sins Out of Mercy

One of the greatest blessings from Allah ﷻ is that He does not expose our sins publicly. If every wrongdoing we committed was immediately revealed to others, our dignity and self-respect would be shattered. Instead, Allah ﷻ conceals our faults, giving us a chance to repent privately. The Prophet ﷺ said:

لاَ يَسْتُرُ اللَّهُ عَلَى عَبْدٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

“Allah does not conceal a person’s faults in this world except that He will conceal his faults on the Day of Judgment.” (Muslim 2590)

How This Nurtures Us:

  • Protects us from public humiliation.
  • Gives us the space to repent sincerely.
  • Teaches us the importance of concealing others’ faults as well.

The Name “As-Sattar”—The One Who Covers Faults

Allah ﷻ is As-Sattar, the One who hides the sins of His servants. This means that even when we commit mistakes, He does not expose them unless we persist in wrongdoing without seeking forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever conceals the faults of a believer, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Judgment.” (Muslim 2699)

Lesson for Us:

  • Just as Allah ﷻ covers our faults, we should also avoid exposing the mistakes of others.
  1. Allah Gives Us Endless Chances to Repent

Even after making mistakes, Allah ﷻ does not immediately punish us. Instead, He provides time and opportunities to repent and change. He does not demand instant perfection but encourages continuous effort towards righteousness.

“And He it is who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do.” (Surah Ash-Shura 42: 25)

How This Nurtures Us:

  • Encourages self-improvement without despair.
  • Reassures us that past mistakes do not define us.
  • Teaches us patience with others who are also striving to improve.

Allah’s Joy in Our Repentance

The Prophet ﷺ beautifully described Allah’s love for His servants when they repent:

لَلَّهُ أَشَدُّ فَرَحًا بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ قَدْ أَضَلَّهُ بِأَرْضِ فَلاَةٍ

“Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than a man who lost his camel in the desert, then found it unexpectedly.” (Bukhari 6309, Muslim 2747)

This hadith illustrates how Allah is not just willing to forgive, but He is overjoyed when we turn back to Him.

Allah’s Mercy is Always Greater Than Our Mistakes

Allah nurtures us in the most compassionate way by:

Covering our faults so we are not humiliated.

Giving us countless chances to repent and improve.

Replacing sins with good deeds when we change.

Delaying punishment to encourage self-reflection.

Accepting even the smallest effort toward change.

Final Reflection

🌿 No matter what mistakes we’ve made; Allah’s mercy is greater. His doors of forgiveness are always open. As long as we turn back to Him, He will never turn us away.

What is stopping us from returning to Him today? Let’s seek His forgiveness, for He loves to forgive. 💖
