FANCY RIBBON SANDWICHES
1 loaf unsliced bread
Spreadable butter
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 tomato sliced
4 hard boiled eggs, shelled and sliced
2 cups finely grated cheese
• Cut out the crusts from the top, sides and bottom of the loaf.
• Slice length wise into 5 or 6 equal slices
• Press lightly with a rolling pin
• Butter each slice, and then place the lettuce on the first quarter of each slice.
• Next, place the cheese on the second quarter next to the lettuce. Thereafter , place the tomato slices on the third quarter and the egg slices on the fourth quarter
• Roll up tightly as you would a swiss roll. Roll each sandwich in a glad wrap and refrigerate overnight.
• Next day cut into slices and serve.
NB:
Alternatively using a loaf of slice bread…remove crusts from each slice. Butter each slice and place lettuce on one slice, tomato on a second slice, eggs on a third and cheese on the fourth. Stack them up, one on top of another using a fifth slice to cover the cheese. Cover with a glad wrap and refrigerate overnight. Next day cut slice and serve.
