Rediscovering your passion and becoming a happier you

By Naseerah Nanabhai
16:02:2022

Not many things in life can give you a feeling of fulfilment, like pursuing your passion. A sense of triumph and accomplishment that ignites your spirit and makes your life feel more meaningful is what most of us yearn for. By understanding what you enjoy doing, being committed to mastering it, and maximising its impact, you will gain a sense of contentment and progress that will feed your heart and soul.

However, establishing what you are passionate about may be trickier than one would think. At times people think they have discovered their passion, only to find themselves entirely wrong and miserably going through the motions of their everyday lives.

If you dread going to work every day, rarely feel motivated, or find your days dull and repetitive, you need to focus on rediscovering your passion. By understanding what ignites your enthusiasm, you will feel increased motivation, a sense of accomplishment and ultimately happier.

Rediscovering your passion is not a quick process. It involves hours of self-reflection, building confidence, researching, trying out different things and most importantly, pushing through and never giving up.  It is a long but rewarding journey.

There is a divide created at a certain point in our young adult life. It’s the point where, unless someone teaches us otherwise, we begin to believe that we need to give up our childhood dreams and settle for something more reasonable. While it may be the case for some people, given the right mindset and strategy, it might become a reality.

For some, the path of rediscovery will lead them to complete career changes; for others, it might lead to mindset shifts or thinking about what inspired them to choose their career in the first place. Wherever it leads you, make sure you spend your life doing what sets your soul on fire.
