Snowfall on the lower levels of the Sani Pass in KwaZulu-Natal earlier today

South Africa- A new cold front moves across parts of the country, with many regions experiencing plunging temperatures and even snowfall.

Numerous photos of snow in various parts of the country were shared by Snow Report SA. Parts of the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and KZN were blanketed beneath snow between Wednesday and Thursday this week. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a warning for disruptive snowfall in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal earlier this week.

The snowfall can cause difficult driving conditions and motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when driving in snow-affected areas, as roads can become treacherous and slippery. Citizens are especially urged to avoid high mountain passes in these areas, as vehicles can get stuck in the snow or slip on ice. Additionally, authorities warn of potential risks to hikers, initiates, homeless people and vulnerable livestock.

The arrival of the cold front has brought plummeting temperatures and wintry conditions to many parts of South Africa, prompting authorities to warn residents to bundle up and take necessary precautions. The SAWS issued warnings for cold and very cold conditions across the interior regions, affecting the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West.
