Strength in Difficult Times – Part 4

This morning during Sabahul Muslim, Ml. Sulaimaan Ravat discussed two verses of the noble Quran, which can help us develop strength to overcome our difficulties.

Now we will take a look at a few more verses

The Third Ayah about strength in hard times.
“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease…Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease…So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. And to your Lord direct [your] longing.” [Al Inshirah, 5-8]

These Inspirational Quranic verses about strength in hard times are the perfect example of the reassurance from Allah to the true believers.

The verses put great emphasis on keeping faith in the Almighty.

For every adversity, there is an opportunity. But, how are you able to find peace and contentment during that difficult phase? The answer lies in the remembrance of Allah and bowing down to him.

No doubt, the ultimate peace is in the remembrance of Allah.

You must put your trust in Allah and always bow down to him and ask for His mercy through your prayers.

Once you learn the art of seeking guidance and help from Allah, no hardship or tough time can break you.

The Forth Ayah about strength in hard times.
“We shall surely test your steadfastness with fear and famine, with loss of property, life and produce. Give good news to those who endure with patience; … Who, when disaster strikes them, say, ‘Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” [Al Baqarah 2: 155, 156]

These elaborative Quranic verses to read during hard times from Surah Al Baqarah can make you easily understand the whole concept of ‘Sabr’.

To be patient in the tough times. The Almighty in these verses explains with examples of adversities inflicted upon its believers to make them practice “Sabr’.

These Quran verses about pain and suffering are great motivations for a true believer. When Allah talks about pain and sufferings, He also talks about the rewards and fruits for the patient. There is a deep message in these verses.

If you want Allah to be pleased with you in the time of disaster, make sure you surrender your will to Allah and always fear no one else but the Almighty alone.

The Fifth Ayah about strength in hard times.
“Say: My servants, you who have transgressed against yourselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Truly Allah forgives all wrong actions. He is the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” [Az Zumar 39: 53]

During times of despair and hopelessness, there are Quranic verses about not giving up on yourself and this verse is a beautiful depiction of that idea.

Hopelessness is a sin. The Quran strictly forbids it.

This beautiful verse reminds you to never lose hope and always trust in the mercy of Allah. No matter how many sins you have committed, they can never outweigh the mercy of Allah.

Hard times can often lead you to make mistakes, commit offenses, and do harm to your soul and spirit. But, still Allah loves you, He will forgive you.

All you need to do is pray for forgiveness and you shall be granted. This verse is a great manifestation of the concept of ‘Istighfaar’. The prayer for forgiveness. There is no denying that the true salvation of a sinner is in seeking forgiveness from the Most Merciful, the Almighty.

What Did You Learn?
Although there are numerous Quranic verses about strength in hard times, we have tried to summarize the concept in a sequence using these five verses.

The first two verses describe the WHY. Why does Allah inflict pain and suffering on his people?

The third explains the What? What to do during those hard times?

And the next two describe the How? How to respond and behave during difficult times? After reading and understanding these five Quranic verses about strength in hard times, your approach to look at adversity will in sha Allah totally change.
