Gaza’s crisis deepens: homes collapse, schools in ruin and Palestine gains cultural solidarity

• Gaza’s collapsing buildings expose the impossible choices facing Palestinians: With 78% of structures damaged or destroyed and conventional building materials restricted from entering Gaza, families are being forced to shelter in bomb-damaged buildings or tents, despite the risks of collapse, rain and wind.
• The Ed Sheeran–Macklemore saga reflects a cultural shift on Palestine: pressure from the Israeli lobby to remove Macklemore from Sheeran’s tour has exposed growing tensions within the entertainment industry, while the backlash and support for Macklemore indicate that cultural solidarity with Palestine is becoming increasingly difficult to suppress.
• Gaza’s education system has been systematically dismantled: As another school year begins, 1,5 million school-aged children remain without safe access to education, with 98% of school buildings damaged and many schools operating from tents or makeshift structures.
