In the Palestine Report this week, Moulana Ebrahim Moosa delivered a comprehensive overview of the current war on the people of Gaza and Palestine. Moulana Moosa discussed the results of Hamas resistance, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the destruction of cultural heritage.

Moulana Moosa provided a summary of recent developments in the Palestinian territories. Israeli soldiers are facing fierce fighting from the Palestinian resistance across the Gaza strip. The number of Palestinian civilian casualties continues to rise in the face of the Israeli onslaught, with 300 Palestinians reported martyred in the past 24 hours alone. Specific areas like the Jabalia refugee camp and Khan Yunis suffered heavy attacks.

Residents of Gaza’s main southern city, Khan Yunis, were ordered to evacuate on Saturday, after which Israel pounded the length of the enclave. Despite Israel’s continuous designation of safe zones in the Gaza Strip, they continue to launch attacks on the entire enclave.

Today, Al-Quds Brigades report the successful bombing of Israeli enemy concentrations around the Al-Zilal Masjid in the al-Taqadum axis, east of Khan Yunis, with mortar shells. In addition, the Al Qassam brigades report the destruction of enemy concentrations that are penetrating the Al-Mahatta area in the city of Khan Yunis with mortar shells today.

Israel’s attempt to fabricate evidence of Palestinian fighters surrendering to the Israelis is failing dismally. Abu Ubaidah of Hamas has revealed that their fighters are resolute, their ranks are cohesive and strong, and thousands of Hamas fighters are awaiting their turn in combat. Hamas soldiers returning from the battlefield report the true extent of Israeli demoralisation.

“He [Abu Ubaidah] went on to say that testimonies from our fighters returning from the battlefield confirm the strength of their resolve and morale and the extent of the demoralisation of the enemy,” Moulana Moosa said.

The conversation shifted to discrepancies in reporting casualties, particularly regarding Israeli soldiers. Israeli authorities refuse to acknowledge that their soldiers are sustaining injuries and encountering fierce resistance. A report by Yediot Aharonoth suggested that 5 000 Israeli soldiers were injured.

The subsequent Israeli response, including the removal of the figure and the launch of a new website for daily injury updates, suggests their propensity for deception. Moulana Moosa reported discrepancies between Israeli updates and data from hospitals in which Israeli soldiers are treated for injuries. “The number of soldiers reported injured only accounts for 15% of the total number of admissions at hospitals,” Moulana Moosa reported.

Moulana Moosa indicated that the Israeli army has issued a directive to spokespeople at hospitals to “refrain from publishing announcements hinting at the arrival of wounded soldiers at your facility.” In addition, the Israeli government have control measures in place to censor information that is shared during press releases.

The interview also touched on the devastating obliteration of Gaza’s cultural and historical sites. Moulana Moosa listed notable landmarks, including masjids, churches, and the Palace of Justice, that have faced severe damage. The destruction of these sites that date back hundreds of years not only erases cultural heritage but also impacts the collective memory of the people. The term “domicide” describes the intentional destruction of dwellings, making the territory uninhabitable, raising concerns about the long-term implications for the displaced population.

Touching on the dire humanitarian situation, updated statistics revealed that 65% of homes in Gaza have been destroyed, leading to a staggering 90% of residents being internally displaced. Mustafa Barghouti’s assertion that half of Gaza is starving underscored the urgency for a resolution. The interview concluded with a call to partake in the global strike, emphasising the need for immediate action to end the crisis.
