2 cups raw rice
2 elachi
1 cinnamon stick
3 tsp salt
Boil till rice is half done than strain and rinse
1kg chicken / lamb
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 handful fried onions
1 cup of sour milk / plain yoghurt
1 tbsp chillies powder
1 tbsp dherna jeeroo powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tbsp ginger garlic masala
1 tsp green masala
Salt to taste
1 tsp whole jeeroo
2 elachi pods
2 Cinnamon stick
Few strands saffron in 1
Cup boiling water
1/2 cup frozen peas
Mix above and marinade meat
4 large potatoes peeled cut into 4 and fried
1 cup masoor dhal boiled
6 eggs boiled and peeled
Divide rice into 1/3 for plain rice and 2/3 for masala
In a pot coat the bottom with a generous amount of oil than sprinkle half the masoor take the meat from the marinade and layer over the masoor place the boiled eggs and fried potatoes over the meat sprinkle 1/2 of the remaining masoor
Take your 2/3 rice add to the marinade of the meat and mix well layer this over the potatoes and eggs lastly layer the plain rice on top top with balance of masoor and some fried onions
Make another 500 ml of boiled water with pinch of saffron in it and pour over the rice
Cover with foil and steam for 1hr 15min till done
Keep stove on high till you hear the bubbling as soon as you hear bubbling drop to low heat and allow to steam
