2 cups chopped dates
1 ½ Cups boiling water
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp Bicarb
½ lb butter
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
Nuts for decorating
Method:
Grease loaf tins. Prepare moderate oven. Sprinkle bicarb into dates. Pour the boiling water over and leave to soak. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs. Add vanilla and nuts then work it in sifted dry ingredient. Lastly add the date mixture. Decorate with nuts. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.
