Generous customer tips waiters R6,000

By Mumtaz Saley Moosa
06:08:2021

During the lockdown and the constant change in lockdown levels, the restaurant sector has been affected drastically. Many lost incomes more than once this year, and it has been a rather challenging time for many.

Yesterday, a Simply Asia store in Durbanville posted a photo that went viral. The picture of a receipt where a patron tipped the waiters and other staff members a whopping total of R6,000.

Last year the trend went viral where people challenged each other to tip waiters double the amount, and it seems that this trend has begun again in a much-needed time.

Several other restaurants have now come forward claiming to have also been recipients of this goodwill.
