2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
Pinch
1 up butter
1 cup castor sugar
2/3 cup yoghurt
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
½ cup chopped nuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 tsp grated orange rind
3 eggs
Syrup:
½ cup sugar
1/3 cup orange juice
Method:
Stir 3 ingredients together. Cream butter and sugar well. Add one egg at a time and beat well into butter mixture. Mix yoghurt and bicarb together. Add orange peel. Add flour alternatively with yoghurt into the butter/egg mixture. Lastly mix in the chopped nuts and dates. Bake at 180 for 35 – 40 min. Make syrup by heating the sugar and juice together until the sugar is completely absorbed. Then chill the syrup. Lastly pour the syrup over the warm cake and bake it another 6 min at 180
