Moulana Habib Bobat hosts The Social Programme with Moulana Ebrahim Bham on Thursday mornings between 9 and 10am.
With the broad expertise, wisdom and experience of Moulana Bham, the programme aims to educate, enlighten and inspire listeners regarding various contemporary social issues in the community.
Topics such as depression, social interaction and happiness have been discussed in the past.
Since the subject matter of the programme relates to everyday experiences, the listeners constantly participate in the programme by sending messages and phoning in. During the programme, listeners can phone in (011 854 1548), SMS (48855) or communicate via Whatsapp (072 786 1548).
Moulana Habib, engages Moulana Bham in a manner that allows the programme to run smoothly and efficiently.
In the past month, the topic of divorce has been discussed on the programme. The presenter and guest touched on various issues surrounding divorce.
Moulana mentioned that Divorce is not something that we should consider lightly. We should treat divorce like a loaded gun. Mention was also made of the fact that three Talaaqs is not necessary. He also went on to discuss situations in which divorce is permitted and the dignified and honourable manner in which divorce should be given.
In the latest edition of the programme, Moulana Bham touched on the healing process of one who has gone through a divorce.
“In Islam, we don’t terminate marriages for trivial reasons but Islam doesn’t force us to remain in a marriage if the marriage is counter-productive.”
“Talaaq is like a gun with three bullets. You have to approach it as seriously as you would approach a loaded gun.”
“You brought her with dignity. If you have to let her go then let her go with dignity.”
