The Amazing Health Benefits of Pineapples

Pineapple is a remarkable fruit. We find it enjoyable because of its lush, sweet and exotic flavor, but it may be one of the most healthful foods available today. If we take a more detailed look at it, we will find that pineapple is valuable for easing indigestion, arthritis or sinusitis. The juice has an anthelmintic effect; it helps get rid of intestinal worms. Let's look at how pineapple affects other conditions.

Pineapple is high in manganese, a mineral that is critical to development of strong bones and connective tissue. A cup of fresh pineapple will give you nearly 75% of the recommended daily amount. It is particularly helpful to older adults, whose bones tend to become brittle with age.

Many people love pineapple. They say that a juicy, ripe pineapple can satisfy sweet cravings as effectively as a chocolate bar. The fruit also offers many health benefits.
Loaded With Vitamins and Minerals
Pineapples are rich in vitamins and minerals including calcium, potassium, fiber and Vitamin C. The fruit is also low in fat and cholesterol.

You can enjoy the health benefits of pineapple by consuming the fresh fruit, or eating the canned or frozen versions. Pineapple juice is just as healthy.
Strengthens Bones
Pineapple helps build healthy bones. This is because pineapples are rich in manganese, a trace mineral that is required to strengthen bones and connective tissues.

One cup of pineapple provides 73 percent of the daily recommended intake of manganese. Pineapple consumption can boost the growth and development of bones in young people and strengthen bones among the elderly.
Good for Colds and Coughs
While many people take Vitamin C supplements or drink orange juice during a cold, few consider eating pineapple. The fruit provides the same benefits as orange juice in treating a cold or cough, but with an additional benefit. Bromelain, a substance found in pineapples, helps suppress coughs and loosen mucus.

Morning Sickness
An old folk remedy for morning sickness is fresh pineapple juice. It really works! Fresh juice and some nuts first thing in the morning often makes a difference. It's also good for a healthier mouth. The fresh juice discourages plaque growth

It lessens risk of hypertension. Hypertension occurs when too much force is exerted on the artery walls while the blood circulates. One of the best ways to combat this is to infuse a high amount of potassium plus a small amount of sodium in your diet to lower blood pressure. Pineapples are the perfect for hypertension because a cup of pineapple contains about 1 mg of sodium and 195 mg of potassium

It helps you lose weight!Eating pineapple can highly cut down your sweet cravings because of its natural sweetness, saving you from a lot of sugar-induced calories. Incorporating a lot of pineapple in your meals will also help a lot in weight loss because pineapples can make you feel full without giving you an ounce of fat.

Home Remedy Tip: Soothe Sore Throats With Pineapples With cold and flu season lurking around the corner, not only am I stocking up on the comfort foods I want when I am sick, I'm also stocking up on some natural remedies like ginger ale for tummy aches and canned pineapple and pineapple juice for sore throats.
A friend told me about this remedy a long time ago. She swore that pineapples and pineapple juice were the best things for sore throats, and she was right. It doesn't cure the sore throat per se, but it sure does help alleviate the pain and tastes a lot better than those nasty throat sprays. Also, pineapple juice is natural and healthy, and doesn't contain aspartame the way a lot of lozenges do.
Pineapples contain an enzyme called bromelain that has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the irritation at the backs of our tongues and in our voice boxes. On top of that, pineapples contain plenty of vitamin C, which helps to boost your immune system. So when your throat starts hurting, drink some pineapple juice or eat some fresh pineapple. It helps!
Another of the wart removal home remedies is fresh squeezed pineapple juice on the wart. Pineapple juice has enzymes that dry out warts.
Applied daily, the wart begins to shrivel, then falls off the skin. In lieu of the pineapple juice, use pieces of pineapple instead. This is a very effective home remedy.
Pineapple helps treat and prevent sport injuries, speeds the healing of bruises, eases arthritis pain and is good for generalized joint aches, tendonitis and bursitis.  Pineapple is also good for corns and calluses on the feet, rough skin on elbows and heels.
