21st Ramadhaan Serve Humanity

Live to Serve Humanity Part 3

Certain People are like Magnets

A Hadith is mentioned by Mundhiri رَحِمَهُ اللهُ in his Targheeb [wat Tarhib]

Sometimes you and I may assist but we feel ‘hey, why do they come always to me? They only know my door’.  However, it is mentioned in this Hadith that Allāh has created certain people in His creation like magnets, people are attracted to them to go and ask for help. Allāh is sending them to you and using you as the conduit to help them and in the process:

أُوْلئِكَ الْآمِنُوْمَ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ

As a reward, Allāh gives you a guarantee of protection from His punishment. So, when they knock on your door, you are not doing them a favour, rather, they are doing you a favour. Whether it is the charity that you give or your time, and the most valuable thing to give is of time. How many brothers say, ‘You know what, take my donation but my time is another matter, even my wife is fighting for her share.” Whether it is money, time, experience, expertise, or physical assistance, we need to live to serve Humanity and if we cannot do any of those things then at least bring a smile to the next man’s face.

Sometimes you know a person is having a difficult day, he just needs somebody to meet him, greet him with a smile and give him a pat on the back. What is the reward for that?

In a narration of Tabarani, it is mentioned “If you bring happiness to a Muslim home, in whichever way that happiness may be, Allāh will reward you with nothing less than Jannah.”

The best of people is the one who lives to serve Humanity. May Allāh make us all from amongst them.
