Ingredients
For the filling:
6 apples, peeled, cored and chopped
Juice of ½ a lemon
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the crumble topping:
1½ cups plain flour
â…“ cup caster sugar
â…“ cup Stork margarine, softened
Method
Preheat the oven to 200°C or 180°C for a fan oven.
Place the chopped apples into a saucepan. Add the lemon juice and sugar. Cook over a medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the apples start to soften. Stir in the cinnamon, then remove from the heat and allow the apples to cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, caster sugar and Stork. Rub together with your fingertips or mix with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Spoon the apple mixture into an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown. Serve warm with custard, cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
