1 kg chicken breast fillets
5ml chilli powder
2,5ml ground jeera (cumin)
5ml freshly ground black pepper
Juice of 1 lemon
5ml grated lemon rind
10ml garlic paste
1 green pepper, cubed
150g fresh button mushrooms
100g pickling onions, peeled and halved
30ml cooking oil
30ml butter, melted
Cube chicken breasts, wash and drain well. Combine chicken, seasonings, lemon juice and rind in a large bowl and mix well. Cover and allow to marinate for at least 3 hours. Thread chicken onto skewers alternating with green pepper, mushrooms
and onions. Grill over open fire, basting with mixture of melted butter and oil. Serve with fresh salad.
Although it is better to grill these kebabs on an open fire they can also be grilled in an oven.
