Cottage Pie (09.05.09) FWC


 

1 onion sliced or chopped

2 Tbsp ghee

1 kg steak cubes

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

1 Tbsp red masala

½ tsp arad

1 green pepper chopped

1 cup frozen peas

3 tomatoes grated

 

8 potatoes (mashed and seasoned)

Blobs of butter

 

Optional Extras

Boiled eggs

Onions

Tomatoes

Green peppers

Salt and pepper

Lots of cheddar cheese

 

 

Method:

 

Braise the onion in the ghee add the steak cubes. Add salt, pepper and cook until almost done.

Add the red masala, arad, green peppers and frozen peas simmer.

Add the tomatoes and cook till done. Must be saucy.

Place this mixture at the bottom of a greases oblong pyrex dish. Spread a layer of mashed potato over the top. Add sliced tomatoes and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with cheese and cover with another layer of mashed potato. Sprinkle again with more cheese, top with blobs of butter and bake at 180C for +- 30 minutes. Serve hot.
