Rewards of Good Deeds

Man`s greatest desire in this world should be to attain the pleasure of Allah and the greatest achievement that any human can gain in this world is the one who has pleased Allah.

Allah particularly described this achievement of the Noble Companions of Rasulullah ﷺ when He said:

As for the first pioneers who accepted Islam from the Muhajir (immigrants) and Ansar (supporters in Madinah) and those who follow them in good deeds, Allah is well pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they shall live forever: that is the mighty achievement. [At Tauba 9: 100]

So, if we also want to attain the pleasure of Allah, then we have to emulate the Great Sahabah RA in the performance of Good Deeds. For surely engaging in acts of good will earn for us the pleasure of Allah.

Surely those who believe and do good deeds, are the best of all creation. Their reward with their Rabb shall be the gardens of Eden, beneath which the rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. Allah shall be well pleased with them and they shall be well pleased with Him. That is for him who fears his Rabb. [Al Bayyinah 98: 7, 8]

Bathing and Use of Perfume on Friday

Bathing or Ghusl on a Friday has been highly recommended in the Ahadith. One should have the intent of bathing on Friday while taking his bath. Wearing a perfume is a Sunnah and following it is meritorious and rewarding.

Narrated Salman-Al-Farsi RA: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven.” [al-Bukhari]

The Prophet of Allah ﷺ also said:

Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath.” [al-Bukhari]

Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male (Muslim) who has attained the age of puberty.” [al-Bukhari]

After bathing on Friday and putting on perfume, one should hurry as soon as possible to the Masjid.

Narrated Abu Huraira RA: Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah’s cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba.” [al-Bukhari]
