Steak and tomato bake (03.06.08)

 

Ingredients:

 

1 cup cake flour ¼ cup butter

1 ½ tsp baking powder

¼  tsp salt

¼ tsp ground pepper

½ cup milk

1 egg

 

Filling:

 

250 g steak

1 onion

2 green chillies

1 tsp salt

2 Tbsp oil

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 tsp garlic paste

1 tsp ginger

½ tsp crushed jeera

1 tsp salt

4 Tbsp dhanya

2 Tomatoes

 

 

Method:

 

Cube steak and cook in oil with spices until soft.

Finely chop onion, add to the steak and simmer until transparent.

Lastly add the chopped dhanya and stir.

Allowing filling to cool.

 

To make a soft dough

 

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and pepper.

Rub soft butter into flour to resemble crumble.

Beat egg and add to milk

Add egg – milk to mixture to dry ingredients and mix to form a soft, sticky dough.

Spoon ½ the dough into a pyrex dish

Using the back of the spoon, cover the pyrex dish with much dough as possible

Place cooked steak in the lined pyrex and top with sliced tomato.

Using a knife spread the remaining dough over the top of the tomato. This will be a bit tricky as the dough won’t necessarily stick to the tomato.

Brush with beaten egg and sesame seeds.

Bake at 180 for +- 30 minutes.
